I Started Acting Age 54
GSPA — Gospel School for Performing Arts — was founded by me, Pearl Jarrett, the lady who walked into my very first acting class at the age of 54. I know exactly what it feels like to look at your dream and whisper "that ship has sailed." I know because I felt it too, yet I wanted to prove myself wrong.
This is me in the movie "Aladdin" with Will Smith — a major Hollywood production, shot right here in England. We filmed it in 2018, and it came out in 2019. Hair. Makeup. Costume. And my own private trailer — right next door to Will Smith's. A golf cart came to collect me and drive me to set. It was all so surreal. This is what a "yes" looks like. Not someday. Not for someone else. For ME! and for YOU!

Our Screen Acting Workshops are taught by Gary — an industry professional who has coached countless actors into screen and TV roles, including productions such as Top Boy, Bridgerton, 1917, Boiling Point, Blue Story and Supacell. If the camera is where you want to be, Gary will show you exactly how to get there.
As a Christian working in the industry, Gary understands the unique challenges Christian actors can face while building a career and staying grounded in their values.

As Christians we believe it's important to welcome the Holy Spirit into what we're doing — so we sing, then we pray, and then we start.
For those of you who are new to GSPA, it's important you understand why we're here and what we're trying to achieve.
Gary calls a student up to work on something they've prepared, or something they've been given on the day.
You'll walk out having surprised yourself — buzzing with what you've accomplished, and already counting down to the next one.

Your questions, answered
None at all. Our workshops are built for complete beginners — most people in the room have never acted before. You're in exactly the right place.
Absolutely not. Pearl started at 54, and many of our students are beginning later in life. Whatever your age, it's not too late.
Yes. GSPA is the only drama school in the UK built for the Gospel & Christian community. You can grow in your gift without ever compromising who you are.
That's completely normal — and welcome. We'll look after you all day, and you'll be amazed how quickly the nerves melt away.
Yes. Saturday and Sunday are separate sessions — book one, or come to both.
Just yourself, loose clothes, trainers, some water and a sense of humour. Everything else is provided.
The Old Diorama Arts Centre, 201 Drummond Street, Regents Place, London NW1 3FE — just 5 minutes' walk from Warren Street (Victoria line).
Life happens — and we don't want that to stop you booking. If something comes up, just let us know and we'll move your place to another workshop (for example from July to August). We simply want you in the room, whenever the timing is right for you.
You'll receive a confirmation email straight away with everything you need — date, time, venue and what to bring. Then just turn up ready to enjoy yourself; we'll take care of the rest.
